Taken in at birth, Rémi is raised with love by Mother Barberin. But Father Barberin, in debt, decides to rent the eight-year-old boy to Vitalis, a travelling artist who turns out to be a kind guardian. And so Rémi joins the street performer's small troupe, along with the dog Capi and the monkey Joli-Cœur. Travelling from town to town, Rémi becomes a true artist...
